Terms of service
Last updated 2026-06-19
By creating a browserfog account or using the browserfog browser extension, you ("you") agree to these terms with Victor Chasex Pvt Ltd, a company incorporated in India with registered office at L-149, Sector 6, HSR Layout, Bengaluru 560102, Karnataka, India ("we", "us", "our"), operator of the browserfog.com service. If you do not agree, do not create an account.
The service
browserfog stores end-to-end-encrypted records of pages you explicitly save from a paired browser. The dashboard lets you browse, search, and export those records. The server stores ciphertext only; we cannot read your records without the vault key that lives in your browser.
Your account
- /You must provide a valid email address and choose a passphrase at least 12 characters long.
- /You are responsible for keeping your passphrase and recovery mnemonic safe. If you lose both, we cannot recover your data — the vault key is gone.
- /You may not share an account or transfer it to someone else.
- /One account per person. We may suspend duplicate accounts created to evade limits or bans.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to:
- /Store, transmit, or otherwise process content that is illegal in the jurisdiction where our servers operate or in your own jurisdiction.
- /Interfere with the service — automated probing, attempting to bypass rate limits, attempting to read or modify other users' data, or attacking our infrastructure.
- /Use the API to scrape pages on third-party sites in ways that breach those sites' terms.
- /Reverse-engineer the cryptographic primitives in an attempt to coerce server-side decryption. The crypto is open source; if you find a flaw, report it to security@browserfog.com.
We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate this section. For egregious violations (CSAM, doxxing, credible threats) termination is immediate; for borderline activity we give reasonable notice when feasible.
The service is free
browserfog is provided free of charge. There is no paid tier, no trial period, no credit card on file. We do not accept payment from users for use of the service.
We reserve the right to set fair-use storage and rate-limit thresholds to keep the service usable for everyone. If an account's usage materially exceeds the resources made available to free users we will contact you before taking any action; we will not silently delete data.
If we ever introduce a paid tier in the future, we will publish updated terms and a separate price page at least 30 days before billing any user. Continued use of the free tier will not require payment.
Availability
The service is provided on a best-effort basis. We target 99.5% monthly uptime, run nightly off-box backups, and monitor latency + error budgets — but outages happen. We do not warrant uninterrupted service. Critical issues are posted to status@browserfog.com (mailing list) and the dashboard footer.
Termination by you
You may delete your account at any time from the dashboard's Danger Zone panel. Doing so hard-deletes every row tied to your user id (sessions, vault, paired browsers, records, risk events, settings, audit log entries) and purges every encrypted object under your per-user prefix in R2. Backups older than 7 days may still contain ciphertext for up to a week; without your vault key (which is destroyed at deletion) that ciphertext is unrecoverable to anyone.
Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Because the service is provided free of charge, our aggregate liability under these terms is capped at USD $100 per claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or anything that cannot lawfully be excluded under Indian consumer-protection law.
Jurisdiction & arbitration
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or in connection with these terms — including questions about their existence, validity, interpretation, performance, breach, or termination — shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
The parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute through good-faith negotiation. If a resolution is not reached within thirty (30) days of written notice from one party to the other, the dispute will be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration in Bengaluru under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, before a sole arbitrator appointed by mutual consent. The seat of arbitration shall be Bengaluru and the language shall be English.
Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence, where such rights cannot be excluded by contract.
Compliance with Indian law
We comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 (including the Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code Rules, 2021, and the Reasonable Security Practices Rules, 2011). Our Grievance Officer (as required by §8(10) of the DPDP Act and Rule 5(9) of the IT Rules, 2011) is named in our privacy policy.
Changes
We will update the date at the top of this page when we change these terms. Material changes will be emailed to active accounts at least 14 days before they take effect; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
